First, don’t assume that people are not joining because your church is “not attractive enough.” Find out what is actually happening.
Look at the whole journey. Are people hearing about the church but not coming? Are they visiting once and not returning? Or are very few people even being invited? Those are three different problems, and they require different responses.
Talk to the people already in the church too. Ask them what they think makes the church valuable, what they think may be discouraging newcomers, and who they naturally feel the church is best positioned to reach. You may discover that the church is trying to attract people generally when it should be intentionally reaching a particular group or community.
Then work on the things you can control: clear communication, genuine relationships, a welcoming atmosphere, relevant ministry, strong teaching, prayer, and consistent follow-up. Don’t keep creating bigger programmes simply because attendance is low. Sometimes a church doesn’t need a bigger event; it needs to become clearer about who it is, who it is serving, and why someone should become part of it.
